The Jefferson Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a community based, 501(c) (3) non-profit, nationally accredited agency, and was the first Advocacy Center to open in Louisiana in 1991. Located in a small, welcoming, child-friendly house, in a residential neighborhood in Jefferson Parish, our primary purpose is to coordinate an interagency approach within Jefferson Parish regarding child abuse, neglect and child witnesses of violent crimes, while lessening the trauma victims may experience during the investigation and criminal justice proceedings of their cases. With this goal in mind, we utilize a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, while respecting and honoring our culturally diverse clientele within the community. Such an interagency effort facilitates the appropriate and consistent detection of and response to child abuse in our community.

In addition to providing forensic interviews, counseling/case management, medical referrals and community education programs, the Jefferson CAC also participates in community awareness events and bi-monthly MDT Case Reviews.
