Diggory

Diggory is a certified facility dog who provides comfort and support to children navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

At the Jefferson Children’s Advocacy Center, children come to us after experiencing abuse, neglect, or witnessing violence. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where they can begin to heal—and where their voices can be heard.

Diggory plays an important role in that process.

💙 Why Diggory Matters 💙

When a child feels anxious or afraid, it can be difficult to communicate clearly. Diggory helps reduce stress and create a sense of calm, allowing children to feel more at ease during:

• Forensic interviews
• Therapy sessions
• Forensic Medical Exams
• Court preparation and proceedings

His presence offers comfort without expectation—helping children feel safe, supported, and less alone.

A calmer child is a stronger voice.

Trauma-Informed Support

Everything we do at the Jefferson Children’s Advocacy Center is grounded in a trauma-informed approach. That means:

• Reducing re-traumatization
• Creating a child-friendly environment
• Supporting both emotional healing and the investigative process

Diggory is an extension of that care, providing a steady, calming presence when it’s needed most.

In Partnership

Diggory is a highly trained facility dog provided through Canine Companions, a national nonprofit organization that trains service and facility dogs to support people with disabilities and professionals working in high-impact environments.

With the help of partners like Westside Veterinary Hospital, we are able to provide this service at no cost to the children and families we serve.
